How did you lose it?

Whatever happened, the first rule is the same: stop writing to the card or drive now.

Photos or videos erased from the card, camera, drone or computer — even emptied from the trash. Deleted rarely means destroyed.

Card reformatted in-camera or on a computer. In most cases the data itself is untouched — only the index was rebuilt.

Maximize Your Chances

Do stop using the media immediately. Every new photo, video or file write can permanently overwrite your lost data.
Don't reformat again or "quick-fix" the card in the camera — this can reset the file allocation table and complicate carving.
Don't install recovery software onto the same disk you're trying to recover from.
Do keep the card in a safe, dry place — and never open a physically damaged card or HDD yourself.
